About

Aang Waan = Hello my Other Self = שלום עצמי האחר~ת

“Hello my other self” is translation for “Aang waan” – an Unangan (Aleut) Alaska Native greeting. The Unangan people come from the Pribiloff islands and the Aluetian Islands in the Bering Sea of Alaska. “Aang waan” = “Hello my other self” is used by the Unangan towards everyone and everything one meets.

The more you say it wholeheartedly, the more meanings and layers it carries, in relation to self, and to another – be it another human, animal, plant, nature, planet, or any… thing, really.

I first came across “Aang Waan” when I was watching a video of Kuuyux A.K.A Ilarion (Larry) Merculieff – a traditional Unangan messenger.

I was deeply touched, and reached out to him to ask his permission to translate it into Hebrew, and we have been connected ever since.

This site is also a part of our mutual work, which is all about dropping to the heart.

So drop in …

See you inside …
